Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent, a forty day period in which Christians prepare themselves to receive the Good News of the Resurrection on Easter morning. It is a season that emphasizes spiritual disciplines like prayer, fasting, and generosity. Ash Wednesday, specifically, gives us the opportunity to do two things. First, to confront our own mortality, and, second, to confess our sins before God. We do both always with an eye toward the light of God’s redeeming love in Jesus Christ. While the tone of Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent, as a whole, tends to be a little darker and more self-reflective, they are both times that can be very holy in the life of the church. So, we hope you’ll join us for our Ash Wednesday worship service on February 22 at 6 pm as we begin our journey toward the cross and our risen Lord, together.
